Blend on iPhone

Blend on iPhone is a web app you add to your Home Screen. It takes about 30 seconds, there is nothing to download from the App Store, and it opens full screen like any other app.

Open the link in Safari. If you are reading this in Instagram, Reddit or another app, tap its menu and choose Open in Safari (or Open in browser) first.

Add Blend to your Home Screen

1. Open app.tryblend.app in Safari. Use the button above, or type app.tryblend.app in Safari's address bar.
2. Tap the Share button. It is the square with an arrow pointing up , at the bottom of the screen (at the top on iPad). On the newest iOS, tap the three dots ··· first, then Share.
3. Tap Add to Home Screen. Scroll down the list if you do not see it . Leave the name as Blend, then tap Add.
4. Open Blend from your Home Screen. Tap the new Blend icon and sign in, or create your account. From now on, always open Blend from this icon.

Seeing "Welcome back"?

If you already used Blend on another phone or browser, Blend asks whether to add this one. Tap Add this browser. It sets up encrypted messaging on this iPhone in a moment, and your other devices stay signed in. Messages sent before you added it may not be readable here.

Why the Home Screen?

Your messages and games are end-to-end encrypted, and your encryption keys live on your device. Apple only gives web apps the storage and security features Blend needs for that when they run from the Home Screen. In a regular Safari tab you can browse and see events, but messaging and games ask you to add Blend to your Home Screen first.

Good to know

• Use one Home Screen icon. If Blend is also open in a Safari tab, messaging works in only one of them at a time.
• Blend does not send notifications on iPhone yet. Open the app to check for new messages and dares.
• On Android, get Blend from Google Play instead.
